logitech remote configuration (1 Viewer)

I would like to configure my logitech 515 to control mediaportal.
At the moment I am using a Vista MCE remote (Model:VRC-1100) and as I am running XP
not all the buttons are configured properly.
Could I use the Logitech remote instead with the Vista MCE receiver.
If so how would I set it up.
I have read plenty of posts on setting up remotes and this has just confused me even more.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Susieq

Firstly I would setup the Harmony remote so that it replicates the keystrokes from your VRC-1100. If you can't find it in the Logitech database then you will have to learn the signals.

As other people seem to have the same issue with mapping the VRC-1100 signals as it lacks config software you could use intelliremote and follow the following instructions: Melloware

I had good results using the Harmony Online software, choosing Mediaportal as a "device"

I had already tried this but it didnt work.
What are you using as a receiver?

Am using Microsoft wireless keyboard, and the ir receiver that came with it.
What went wrong with your using the mediaportal device?
