I did not find any good information with the above tip/links.
Litestep sounds interesting, but in a thread in this forum from last year someone writes about problems when using litestep.
Is there a way to get MP running with litestep without problems? Anybody have a tutorial or similar?
Links to google with "shell" as search string do not help, as this has to work with mediaportal ...

Yes thats why I suggested to search the Forum
As I said there are posts on how to do this.
If you had looked, you would have found

In any case, a well set up s3 system will mean the machine will do instant-on into the MP interface with no need to boot with any degree of regularity. Ive never quite fathomed why people go the shell replacement route but I guess if you're switching the machine off and on you may save some boot-time not loading explorer.exe
On my machine I hit the power button and it resumes from s3 in about 5 seconds flat - straight into MP. No time is spent loading explorer.exe as its already loaded.
