hello everyone,

is there any plugin, providing a small webinterface for your video-collection
that allows you to stream the files through the internet on demand?

and if its not yet developed, is there any other solution so far?

i only found a way with VLC streaming.
but your webinterface only shows up playlists or filenames but no real video/audio informations (like metadata, id tags, covers and so on)

i would love to browse online through my media files and stream them on demand

regards,

Yes iPimP was originally meant for the Iphone, but you can access the WebUI in any browser, and if I'm not mistaken it now supports streaming to Google Chrome aswell. And are you sure that you can't install MPwebservices without a TVcard? You can't just install TV server and then install MPwebservices? I haven't tried it so I don't know but it sounds weird that you can't. I have only fooled around a little bit with iPimP so I'm not 100% certain but I do think it should cover your needs.

5.0.1 changelog states the following: Web - added Silverlight player for desktop browsers - Google Chrome is recommended
4.1.0 changelog states the following: MP client plugin - Added Moving Pictures support (needs Moving Pictures 1.0 Beta 1+)
And TV series is on the roadmap.

    thank you again!

    i will try ipimp asap.
silverlight should be no problem at any plattform

    and MPWebservices:
i'm running MP 1.0.2, where tv server wasn't included
and since i'm really happy with the working MP, i'm a bit afraid in upgrading and maybe crashing every setting or database

that's why i actually didn't installed MP 1.1 with TVServer
and than - of course, you cant setup the plugin, since it uses the TV Server configUI.

any opinions on the risk of upgrading MP? is the upgrade plugin/skin independent or do i have to create some backups of my databases?

    greets again ;)

    I don't really know :)

Personally I'm going with a fresh start once 1.1.0 is released only thing I'll do is to export my watched taggs from MPTVseries, anything else will be wiped and rebuilt.

hehe - if you already imported a couple of movies to MovingPicutes, reimport could take a LOT of time.
i already used the cover/information copier tool, that copys background, cover to the folder and creates an nfo file
but again - i'm very afraid of what actually will happen, if i go for a reimport

its a thing to think about, if i have some more time.
updating to 1.1 or maybe 1.2 somewhere in near future should provide a good boost of features

Hmm what tool is that? I would really love the nfo creating part of it.
