Hi All,
I have been using mediaportal since I got tired of MCE stability issues and have found it to be very stable and I only loose a recorded program if the station is way off schedule ( late night it is VERY common).
I have used since release 0.2 and have gone through to 0.2.1 and all the epgs have done the same.
I use ICEtv guide, I mod mp to accept the epg and it works really well, but after a month of a clean install the guide will stop showing the channels and just display "no data available". I have tried deleting the database. rescanning. checking and re writing all the channel names but to no avail. The only cure is to remove and then reinstal MP and reset all.
For some reason the only channels to disappear are the commercial channels ie 7,9 and 10.
Am I missing somthing?? I am a newb so to speak but I can read and make basic programs as well so that makes me a nightmare lol cause I will get in there and try to find the problem.
Any help or has anyone else had disappearing guide info for some channels.
Thanks

Im back again, I have managed to sort it out after reading a few more descriptions as to how the tv guide is stored. I found out that the tvdatabaseV21.db3 was corrupted by reading the start up log for mediaportal. It showed everything to be fine until a database check query is run and that turned up an error.
All I did then was delete the file and allow mediaportal to rebuild it for me.

To easy in the end but feel stupid now asking for help lol.
Thanks

Glad you asked for help

I had the same problem. IceTV worked perfectly when I first installed it using their guide, but then mysteriously "no data available". Thinking about it, I suspect this happened after I upgraded to 0.2.2.0.

Initially I thought IceTV's installation guide might be out of date after I redid the process several times with no success. Then I stumbled across your post and realised their guide was not to blame.

The problem I faced after deleting the TVDatabaseV21.db3 file was that MP failed to incorporate tuning data properly. I reused my old TVDatabaseV21.db3 file, backed up the tuning data and then deleted TVDatabaseV21.db3 again. Imported the tuning data from my ChannelList.xml backup and let MP reconstruct TVDatabaseV21.db3. Bingo. I now have IceTV EPG data back again.

:D

I have further managed to rework this problem and it seems to be a permissions error with sql lite once the database gets corrupted. I am not a code genius and got this workaround from someone else, sorry cant remember whch post, but it worked a treat.
Open the sqllite browser which normaly is in the docs folder of mediaportal and open the tv database. Export the database to an sql file making sure to put the .sql extension on the file.
Next import the sql file and create a new database and name it with the .db3 extension and save.
Copy this new file to your database directory and rename the original tvdatabase 21.db3 file to somthing else incase it doesnt work and you need to try again, and then rename the imported database to replace the renamed one. Probably clear as mud are these instructions, but I did all this in under 3 mins and everything was back up and running sweet without loss of guide, scheduled programs, recodeed programs and tv tuning data.
Hope this helps someone.

Magic Disappearing Guide Data

Thank you... thank you... thank you. :D

I have been using MP for some time but I have never been able to get the guide working properly, so it has been very crippled.

I went through every tutorial and setup every type of guide import. I would get guide data and then after a few seconds it would just disappear into thin air.

After looking at this thread I found a single mention of a bad database record in the log. I had deleted and re-added channels and cards a zillion times but apparently this bad record would cause just enough of a problem to keep things looking good in the config while not actually working properly.

Some work on the base DB to get things corrected and I'm back to working. Finally!

Thanks
