When I record on E4 I have no problem, but if I record on the BBC it doesn't work properly.

If I record on BBC 2 or CBeebies, the XML file is created in My TV folder as intended but there is no TS file to accompany it.

I can watch these channels fine on live TV.

I have attached the TV.log file.

All help greatly appreciated.

Don't worry it has nothing to do with your superb MediaPortal and everything to do with my hardware.

Thanks for looking.

Well i did look, but all I could see was no signal errors, just no expert on satellite as to why :(

Is it fixed or what, always nice to have a answer, may help someone else.

It's to do with the satellite signal. I was splitting a signal from one dish to 2 receivers.

Like a moron, I thought I could just split my satellite signal as I have done in the past with cable - BUT NO this risks all manner of dire consequences according to the guy in the satellite shop. He talked darkly about damaged LNB receivers and other apocalyptic stuff.

However, there is a bright side after a google, I found that there is a thing called a Smart Priority Switch or SPS1 and this does the job. The forums here and here explain it all.

Thanks for having a look and for all your other work on here, I hope this helps some other poor sap like me.

    Cheers

Know about the cable, hence dual\quad lnb's, splitting the cable is the bit we don't see here :D

Thanks for the info\links, might be something I need myself one day.

    Here's a completely unrelated problem.

I use XMLTVgui.exe to download my TV Guide, which is fine for most channels but some exotic ones aren't listed in the Radio Times. Can I use a combination of live EPG and XMLTV to get a complete guide? I know there are dangers here, this is assuming I am mega careful and don't have any channels getting there EPG from both sources.

    Many thanks

    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/development-91/sky-uk-uk-freesat-epg-43261/

May help, I currently use ForTheRecord with WebEPG\radiotimes for 14 day guide, which is updated by dvb epg to correct off-air freeview channel times, ie Virgin1 is 24\7 under radiotimes because its satellite, but freeview dvb-t only has it in the evenings\night.

The only way to really check is to try enabling both forms of epg :)
