Hoping someone can help me. After 4 weeks on setting up Mediaportal and trying new things I finally had everything working great today. Then today after about an hour of listening to music in mediaportal it crashed. So I restarted Mediaportal but had no sound. I restarted the computer then started mediaportal back up and still no sound. I tried playing videos and the video part plays fine but still no sound. So I exited out of mediaportal and just tried playing a song and a video through windows media player and MKPlayer and that worked fine. So my sounds works perfect when I'm in windows, but once I start mediaportal I lose my sound. This did happen to me a while back when I was first trying mediaportal and the way I got it back was to reinstall everything including my OS which is Vista Ultimate. Anybody have any ideas??? I really don't want to have to start all over again from scratch. Please help

I just found this and this took care of the problem:

For some reason, volume control was set to max, but highlighted in black. I maxed it again, now it is working as before.
Steps:
- run MP (not full screen)
- click on speaker icon down on the right corner.
- click on mixer
- adjust volume for the MP to max.
- Enjoy.
Note. MP should be running, otherwise you will not see it in the mixer. It only shows apps currently using audio session.
Mixer should remember your settings, however I found different notes on the net with complains that it does not.

I had the very same problem a couple of weeks ago. However I was not as patient as you and didn't find the solution myself. I had to reinstall MP and all plugins for the sound to work once again inside MP. Thanks, I will remember this if the error happens again.
