MediaPortal Version: 0.2.3.0 Stable
Windows Version: Windows XP/Windows 2003
CPU Type: Intel Core2Quad Q6600
Video Card: Nvidia 7300GT PCI-E

Hey guys. I have recently switched over to MediaPortal from MythTV. All I can say is that the interface is much better than MythTV and since we are in Windows, I can finally get my Hauppauge HVR-1800 working as well. Anyway, I am experiencing some lag when going into the networked Movies directory under My Videos. There is close to 300-350 videos in this one folder. I also have a TV Shows directory (Each show is seperated by Season directories) , which is blazing fast compared to the Movies directory. I have all this on a fileserver going through a 100MBit connection between the two boxes. Is there anyway of speeding this up? I know MythTV used a database to "index" all the files and needs updated when the files change. I am guessing that MediaPortal does not do this. Is there anyway around this? Thanks!

You could use the My Videos database, especially if your collection does not change too often. To start off, have a quick look at the Wiki concerning Videos. Scroll down to the "Scan" section.

I can tell you how I did it. There is a new setting in the Movies section "every movie has it's own directory", which I marked and which I used in my Movie Folder. Then I used the automated scan function mentioned above.

Whenever I have a new movie, I go into My Movies - shares view, go to the new movie and hit F3 = IMDB lookup. The movie then gets added to your database. Going through the menu, you can then select Title View which is based on the database.
