I tried Moving Pictures the other day and I love the interface and how it grabs movie info etc... but I've used playlists with MP since I first started using it. Is there any plan to add a playlist feature to Moving Pictures?

actually, it's sorta possible to hack it to add playlists:

you could in the categories add a node with filter based on resume time not equal 0 for instance. Then, you could "add" a movie to your playlist just by playing the first few seconds of a movie.

Similarly, you could abuse the user ratings field in same way, for up to 5 different playlists (assign ratings 1-5 to allocate the movie to one of 5 playlists, then use a node with filter to see them...

To queue up films? This will sound odd, but I have real sleep problems but I find if I have background noise etc. such as films playing then it really helps me not just fall asleep, but stay asleep. You can create playlists in my videos, so I just thought it might be nice to have the option in moving pictures as well.

There are no technical reasons for not having playlists beyond the fact that, like all features, it would take time to implement. And frankly it's not something people ask for very often. Maybe we will get to it eventually but don't hold your breath, my answer is the same as it was before. It's not happening any time soon. Sorry.

Playlists imply the saving of a file and being able to reopen them but even a queue that clears when the addon or MP is closed would be very cool and probably much easier to implement and require less changes to the interface.

Moving Pictures looks and acts way better than the basic interface but since it lacks a playlist or queue feature I'm still not using it. Its quite possible others aren't using it for the same reason and rather than speak up just moved on.

Not trying to be a pain in the ass on this though. I'd rather fforde if he made the effort do it because he thought it would be a useful and worth while addition to Moving Pictures.

He didn't say it would be not useful, all he is saying is there are more important or more requested features that need implemented before something like this.

Personally I believe most wouldn't use this because they don't want the pc and tv on all night for power reasons.

If you truly think people want this then you can make an enhancement request here and people can star it if they want it.

The point of options is they're optional and not all options are going to be useful for everyone or all the time or for the same reasons. Falling asleep with MP loaded I don't think is the best example usage of a queue feature.

My uses for a queue have little to do with needing background noise to fall asleep. I use a queue for all sorts of reasons. I like it for tv series or movie series myself. I've had movies that came in multiple parts. Last month I queued movies while watching my neighbors kids. They wanted to watch the 80s/90s batman movies so I queued them up. I've only done it once but a buddy brought over a drive of music videos and audio with rendered visualizations for a party and we queued it up.

The queue is also really nice if like me you have a shit ton of movies on your computer and you just want to be able to find a movie quickly again and know you have to scroll 9 pages down to find the one you're going to watch right now.

I have submitted the feature request, mostly as a formality so I can at least say its been done of this thread keeps popping up. Even if it does get some support it looks like there's plenty of other work for fforde and his guys to work on first. As I said before I'd rather the team working on this feature be amped about it and think its a great idea as well, rather than it get added just to get it in there.

i love how subtitles are implemented in the MP2 videoplayer, this is just perfect. 1080p playback is also very good. But video playback in MP2 is buggy when playing 4k material. Therefore: PLEASE add an option for an external video player! I'd LOVE to have VLC back as videoplayer, like in MP1! This works perfectly. You will make a...

Thanks for explaining. I found a passing reference to this here: https://www.team-mediaportal.com/wiki/display/MediaPortal1/HID%20Profiles which I had overlooked in the past. I would find it logical for a created custom profile to be automatically activated, but until that happens, I will try to create a wiki page for the current...

I've made changes to the media-playing overlays in BasicHome.xml and musicOverlay.xml, but I'm having difficulty finding the video-playing overlay used for the other screens. Isn't there a single overlay .xml that displays in MyVideo, MyMusic, TVSeries, MovingPictures, etc. like the musicOverlay.xml does? Thanks! Update: ... Ooops...
