I would like to build a low power HTPC. Cheap would be nice as well, but low power is quite important.

Would it be possible to use something like the Intel Atom? It's a very low power CPU, but should have a bit more power than the Via very low power chips.

I'm thinking about something like Gigabytes mainboard with build in Intel Atom processor

It has pretty much everything including sound, graphic card, netcard etc.

I'll obviously need memory (only 2 GB supported, - but that should be enough, should it not?), harddisk, DVB-T card and a chassis/power supply.

Would this system do any good?
Could I add a Blu-ray drive and see full 1080p or would that be impossible with the CPU/Graphic card included on the Gigabyte low-power board?

For Blu-ray you would need to check the specs on the drive you are looking at to make sure your PC could handle the load. As for the system, it looks good to me, but then again that all depends on what extras you will be looking at running with it (burn DVD's, surf the WWW, etc...).

    Cheers!
