Hi all,
A friend of mine has build a HTPC with MP, so far it is working fabulous.
It plays file's with the following extensions:.avi .mpg .ogm .mpeg .wmv .ifo .mov .sbe .dvr .ts .dat .mp4 .divx .iso without any problems, wich is very good. Only i have lot of media file's with the m2ts extension.

Now i have 2 questions:
Is there any reliable converter for this kind of file's (subs and Dolby Digital supported)?
Or... is it possible that MP can run this kind of file's?

I have MP version 1.0.2.22555 with ffdshow and Haali media splitter installed.

With regards,(sorry for my Englisch)
Eddy

Just add that extension in MP Configuration Video section. And MP will play it

    Hello.

You can Reencode most m2ts format in MKV using MeGUI (modern media encoder) it's a little complex and encode an entire movie could take something between 6 hours and 2 days depending on settings and machine power :D

What I cannot remember is how to process subtitles, but i remember that they should be extracted and deal with separately.

You can play M2TS with media portal but, AFAIK there is no way to use the internal subtitle stream, so I think that the best option is to reencode in MKV with megui, using the proper options you can get up to 90% quality with 1 to 5 compression ratio (ie: a 45 Gig m2ts file, to 9 Gig MKV with only 10% quality loss).

I dig a little in the subtitles issue, and if i found anything I'll post it here.

Just remux video, audio and subs into a mkv container. Takes ~2h from BD disc to a final mkv. Useful apps are eac3to, bdsup2sub and mkvmerge.

Have you tried re-installing Haali splitter and ticking the 'Enable MPEG-TS support' box ?

This will allow it to split transport stream files i.e. .ts .m2t .m2ts etc

I found Ripbot264 to be the easiest tool to use so far to transcode files. MP will play .m2ts files. What O/S is being used? Win7 has built in codecs for .m2ts, XP does not.
