Hi.

The last weeks I searched many forums to solve my problem, but now I am totally confused.

I want to use MediaPortal to view my m2ts BluRay rips (H.264 AND VC-1 coded) and I want to be able to change audio tracks and subtitles. Is that possible with MediaPortal?
My system: Asrock ION 330 - Win 7 Home Premium (German). Is my hardware good enough to handel vc-1 coded material?

I found many how-tos online, but nothing really worked for me.
VC-1 doesn't work at all. Can someone tell me what codec packs I should install so that I can viel m2ts files without any problems?

Hi dkun,

You mention you have BD rips. Do you keep them as an image file or have you converted them to mkv or something.
If you have images, it makes things difficult. BD are not yet supported fully by mediaportal. And if you have XP, BD images are not recognised. *(without patching xp that is)

You can start by reading this thread. It will probably give you a big push in the right direction.

Good luck with this. :)

AW: M2TS (H.264 AND VC-1) playback - how-to needed

Well, I had iso files, but as you said there were many problems with it.
So, I just extracted the main m2ts files of some movies to check, if I can play them. But the VC-1 ones don't work.
I will try again after installing SAF. Hope It'll work then.

I have m2ts rips that I made using the TONMT. Yesterday I finally got them running from Moving Pictures with hardware acceleration.

I had to disable VC-1 in ffdshow (as it seemed to take over) and even though I specify PDVD as the codec, I am pretty sure its using the MPC-HC codecs.

I'm afraid I have all sorts installed so cannot say 100% which codec is required. But it is do-able. Yesterday I watched The Dark Knight, a 28GB single m2ts file.

So, I had a clean install of Win 7 Home Premium (Family Pack) now.

    What Codecs should I install?

Should I install them before installing MediaPortal or afterwards?

The problem with m2ts is, there is no way to support subtitle or audio track change at the moment. You need to mux m2ts in to MKV to be able to do it.

If you provide small sample i can take a look.

Oh really? I read that it's possible with MediaPortal. If not, I have to look for another program.
I often watch Japanese movies. But without subtitles....tough one!

Just a tip. I suggest you use SAF for codec "pack". Hoborg, which you see replying here, is providing support for it. :D There is a fairly big user group of that software in combination with MediaPortal. So if there are problems with it, it will be dealt with. This to me is a reason to use SAF. And I am not even talking about how well it works most of the times. :)

To find the SAF press *click*. :D

Install Mediaportal first, followed by the SAF package from Hoborg.

Just to put things in to perspective. The issue with subtitles is present in playback of m2ts files. Other files play perfectly with subs and audio language.
