hi! First of all: great plug-in!!! However, I have two problems:
1. I built a macro and want to assign it to a MCE remote button. Looking under action, there is nothing to assign, nor MACRO, neither the name of the macro. how to do this?
2. I would like to run an external program with a parameter, which is the filename in the window where the cursor actually is. Is it possible? Thus, it would allow me to start external viewers for some file formats. Or is there an easier way?
THANKS!!

    Glad you like it.

    1.
In the Remote Button mapping section you need to select the "Blast IR" Action. This will then put all the IR Commands and Macros into the drop down combo box.

I've just looked at the help file for this stuff, and it's not very clear, so I'll re-write that bit.

Or are you saying that the Macro isn't showing up in the list?

    2.
There's nothing in there at the moment to do that.
I think the best way to have different external file viewers would be to get a plugin made that is specifically for that purpose. If I get some time I'll look into it.

    Thanks,

    it works!

    hi,
thanks for your advice, macros work now perfectly!
However, I have a few additional questions:
    1. Is there any way to configure any MCE remote control button to send/map keystrokes such as ALT-F4 or Escape??
    2. Can I configure a button to MINIMIZE or HIDE the MP GUI?? Would be helpful if using external players....
    3. If I am in mouse mode (by the way: a really GREAT feature!!!) : is there any button equivalent for ESCAPE or ALT-F4??
    4. I assume that will not be possible: but could you imagine a configuration to have all these really GREAT options if running MP, but having back the "normal" MCE behaviour if MP does not run??? ( I am using the replacement driver, to have all the options like mouse mode etc...)

    THANKS again!!!!!

    excellent,

    To answer your questions:

    1. Not really at the moment, given that there's nothing inside MediaPortal you can't do with the input mapper you really don't need keystroke mapping. Unless of course you are in Mouse Mode and want to control another program. Or I guess if you've got MediaPortal minimized and want to control other apps. I'll add in a Macro command to send keystrokes. It's very easy.

    2. I was going to add this feature after I saw people talking about it in another thread. I'll put it in as a macro command too.

    3. I'm looking at ways to improve mouse mode at the moment, this will be something I definitely support in some way in the future. Hopefully in the next week or so.

    4. To use the MCE remote with replacement driver throughout windows you'd need to use something like HIP or Girder. If you do decide to use one of those programs then you'd need to put the plugin into Message Mode. There's info on that in the docs.

I'll post back here as I complete some of the features you've requested.

Thanks for the feedback, if you have any other ideas, let me know!

    Cheers,

I don't use Girder, but I can recommend HIP, it's fantastic.

When you put the plugin into Message Mode you will want to use HIP to do the blasting, and for this you need Hip Send which is available from the HIP website, theres plenty more information on this in the MCE Replacement Plugin thread and in the docs.

Let me know how you go.
