Major Dropped Frames when TV Channel Left Unchanged - *Logs Attached* (1 Viewer)

Has anyone else had this issue?

If I am watching a channel (any channel, analog cable NTSC) for anywhere more than an hour, MP begins to drop frames and it will quickly drop enough that the picture will just freeze. To fix it all I need to do is change the channel then change it back and I've got another hour of watching.

I'm running a server-client setup.

Any thoughts?

I will post logs this evening when I get home.

Thanks.

Have you tried pausing live TV for a second or two when the juddering occurs - or just after each channel change - (in case the timeshift buffer is running out of data) ?

Thats for the comment Owlsroost, I will try to pause the Live TV stream when the dropped frames starts. I'm traveling right now so I'll have to try it in a few days.

What would make the timeshift buffer run out of data?

If the render 'clock' of your PC is slightly faster than the broadcast stream 'clock' then the amount of data in the buffer will very slowly decrease until it's essentially empty.

I'd always assumed that MP has some way of detecting/dealing with this situation, but maybe it doesn't always work ?

    Thanks again Tony.

Now if it is that the clock is slightly off two questions:

    1. how do I check both clock signals
    2. if they are different, how do I correct it?

    Thanks!

Well, it wasn't the timeshift buffer. When it started to drop frames I paused the stream for a few seconds and started it again but it continued to drop frames.

    Any other thoughts? Anyone?

No one else having this issue?

Its really annoying to have to change the channel in the middle of shows.

I have the same issue as well, it drives me nuts!

Could it be hardware related? E g bad written drivers or something? I´m using a low cost EC168 dvb-t usb stick.
