I use both Vista MediaCenter and Mediaportal for my needs. After tinkering around with Mediaportal to get my DVR working and wasting a ton of time, I decided to stick with Vista MCE for my DVR needs as it is so easy. Microsoft has made such a wonderful product… it is just amazing. All you need to do it hookup the cables, put in your zip code, select your provider and viola…. EPG is downloaded automatically and everything is taken care within like 30mts. Nothing to beat Vista MCE in terms of DVR functionality, ease of setup and ease of use.

it would be quite nice if Mediaportal could do something like this.

Probably Mediaportal 2, but something to have in mind.

of course it must offer tons of other options, but maybe there is a way of making it work in a so easy way, and then allow user to optimize its setup.

My thoughts exactly, just spend a couple of hours setting up the tv part of mediaportal.
But the real advantage of mediaportal over VMC is that what you have after that 30 minutes in VMC, will never improve from there, while mediaportal takes longer to setup, but you can keep improving/extending it.

I totally agree.

Although setup is working in MePo configration, the setup could be improved for the end user.

I know developers are planning to implement the TVE2 feature, where analog channel list can be downloaded/choosen easily.

Today we have to do a manual search with to many options(Cable/antenna, Low, medium high sensitivity etc).

Should be easier like choosing country, postal code and/or provider.

DVB searching has been improved a lot lately - easier because of the continously new channellist being added.

On DVB signals, the EPG works almost instantly, but EPG on analog is just pain in the #"¤!.

So yes - The ease of use on the TV-part shoud be improved.

Would really like to see easier configuration of TV, control from within Mepo.
