This may be a very basic question but....

How do I map the channels from the channel scan in the tv server setup to may xmltv grabbed channels?

What I have managed so far is to make the tv server import the channels and programs from the tvguide.xml but not the actually map them to may "real" channels.

Is the solution to rename the real channels manually according to my xmltv channels? Or is it there a better way?

Yes you could just rename them to match. Personally, I use a VBScript to download the EPG and then it renames (Search & Replace) the channel names in the xml file to match what I called them in Mediaportal.
That way I have channels named how I want and not how they are in the XML file or how they are named by a channel scan.
I do this as the channel scanned names are long and don't fit nicely in the onscreen EPG display.
