  • Fresh install of 1.0.0 RC1
  • Selected MCE remote from configuration
  • Only up/down/left/right and OK button working
  • Installed MCE replacement plugin (not driver)
  • All MCE remote functionality restored

Debugging information:
  • Disabled MCE replacement plugin
  • enable default MCE support
  • enabled extended logging
  • carried out debugging test
  • during debugging used the keys "back" and "start" which didn't perform required results

Attached are the debugging files:

I have much the same issue with RC1, and I think it's because my remote doesn't send the expected values (easily figured out in notepad, though I actually wrote a small program to output the values). Of special note is the "back" key which sends a backspace instead of an ESC, but the only keys which do seem to work as expected are up/down/left/right/OK, the volume and channel buttons.

I saw this thread implying that it's possible to implement a custom mapping file which maps different keystrokes to MP commands, but there are conproperty, command and cmdproperty values in there which aren't documented anywhere I can find.

So I have two questions :

1 - is it possible to implement a mapping file for an IR remote which generates keystrokes in the manner described in the other thread?
2 - is there a list of the conproperty, command and cmdproperty values anywhere?

Thanks

Edit - I don't have any drivers configured with this remote - I just plugged it in and XP recognised it. All the buttons arrive as keystrokes.

I have the same issue. MCE remote, silver Antec Fusion case (with VCD and knob), and it doesnt work.

If I don't find a solution today, I'm going back to MCE as I don't have time to hack a remote!

What I find really strange, is the lack of real clear and simple guides here on how to solve these issues. The remote is key for a HTPC software - so why is there no "customer friendly" focus on that?

sorry for moaning - spent 4 hours last night trying to remove visuses from my HTPC, and then dealing with a lack of remote functionality!!!

    Hi,

running XP with RC1 and MCE with no problems. There are some threads in the forum about installing the remote on non-mce systems.
After a working solution in 0.2.3 i just installed RC1 and it worked.

U have the original mce? u are using xp-mce? or what? u have a xp or vista remote? xp or vista system?

    Hi,

I'm using Vista, with a MS Remote. Arrows and volume works, nothing else. I hacked around and got play to work etc. But for the life of me, I cannot get the Back button working.

It shouldn't be this hard! :)

I might be sounding a bit stupid here, but have you enabled MCE remote under "Remote Controls" in the configuration?

yep :) I'm going to try it with changing the setting to HID in MediaPortal and then also going through these threads:

    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/support-123/issues-mce-compatible-remote-38178/index2.html
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/plugins-47/generic-keyboard-remote-input-plugin-25755/

    possible solution:? https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/general-support-51/mce-remote-imon-38884/index2.html

    also some tips: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...fusion-v2-vfd-silver-owners-37044/index2.html

    another solution?: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...est-media-center-remote-support-config-37567/

I see that there's a MyMovie plugin for MCE - it might be easier to just go and use that.

The only thing I want to be able to do, is delete files/folders with the remote after watching something...

In device manager, what does your remote show up as, if it is a mce remote, then it will be listed as ehome infrared receiver.

It really does need to know what windows recognises the remote type as, before MP can be assigned to it.
