It seems to work now..
BUT I tried this many times before and provided logs when it didn't work.

I know, it's usually not working when the Moon and Jupiter are misaligned. However now that our solar system behaves HID is happy again.

Why is there no warning that HID keyboard can't be active when using classic mode?

It would be too easy otherwise and we would not be having so much fun on those forums.

Now it's just the issue with the green button not starting MP even though I have MPTray loaded.

That's odd too. I'm not sure what kind of logs we have to debug that.
You could try HTCIC instead and see if that works for you.

After installation launch Sharp Display Manager (old name).

• Add an event:

• Select HID in the Type combobox and press the Green button on your remote. (Combobox must have focus)
• Name your event and click Ok.

• Then add an Action to that event:

• Select 'Launch application', point it to the MP1 executable, name it and click Ok:

That should work already.
Then you may want to make sure HTCIC starts when Windows starts.

MPTray has a log file.
