Media Libray not auto updating (1 Viewer)

Hi Everyone,

I've just installed Media Portal v1.01.

When I add music to my music folder (located on the same pc as the install but on a different partition of the hard drive) my music library does not update.

I have the "auto-update db on changes in share" checked but still no auto update.

Is there another setting that I am missing?

How exactly are you putting the files there? Are you downloading things directly to that folder, or copying them from elsewhere. A problem I've had is if the file is at any stage incomplete in that folder, then MP won't be able to read the tags properly, so it doesn't seem to get added to the database. Copying completed files to the folder usually works well, though.

The files were copied in to the folder when media portal wasn't running but it still didn't pick them up.

I'm having the exact same issue and would love to know how to solve it. I'm using Media Player to rip my CD's straight to the drive that my music collection is stored on (the one configured in Media Portal).

Of course I added my music folder, otherwise wouldn't my music not even show up?

But since I set it up the first time, I've added more music and MP only updates additional music if I switch to 'Shares' mode. In any other view mode, library is NOT automatically updated. I have to force the update in MediaPortal Configuration by rescanning the database, which gets annoying fast.

I just started using database view and noticed that database doesn't get updated automatically. I have to update it manually from the configuration every time I add something.

Im using MP 1.2 and have the exact same problems. These problems have always existed for me even with earlier MP versions. The database just wont update when I add new music folders other than by going into config and doing a complate rescan. Rescanning 10,000 tracks takes one hell of a time so I remembered thats why I just haven't used MP for playing music much.

This is a serious flaw which detracts from what is a great package. Surely there must be a way to get this to auto update? Have others solved the problem and I'm missing something?
