Hi,

As ION systems are available, i would like to build a HTPC system.
The HTPC cases i like are very small and support only 1 additional card.
I would like to use a twin DVB-S2 tuner, so i'm searched the internet and found this card:

Media-Pointer MP-S2² DVB-S2 Twin Tuner
Media-Pointer MP-S2² DVB-S2 Twin Tuner "Low Profile&qu

There is also a low-profile version which i not need.
The manufactorer wrote on the page that BDA drivers are used and Mediaportal is suppoting it.

Is this correct?
Can i use this card in MP 1.1 or 2.0?

Thanx in advance

    MediaPointer DVB-S2 (first impressions)

    Hi,

I've got my MediaPointer DVB-S2 card and it works perfect !
It is a dual DVB-S HD card.
After many other hardware trials (Nova DVB-S, Nova HD-S2, Skystar 2, Genius STA-BOX) this card seems to be the best choice.

Simple installation, no problems with detection and scanning.

Looks good. Maybe this can be a good succesor for the FloppyDTV?
But what about common interface support? Is that possible with this card?

    hi jonm,

the Media-Pointer MP-S2² DVB-S2 Twin Tuner "Low Profile" currently seems to available only at MediaPointer, a company in 45133 Essen, Germany, URL: Media-Pointer.de - Technik für Ihr digitales Zuhause.
Apparently the orders are more than they are able to deliver, so currently they say that the shipping will take 'longer' - whatever that means. But this was the same when I ordered my card and i received it within 3 weeks.

the card itself has no possibility for CI. Probably this will be possible later (e.g. via USB ?) but so far not any hint on the product pages.

It is now about 14 days that the card powers my HTPC and still not any problem and (my impession), a faster channel switching than with any other hardware I tried. (picture often appears before the remote button is released). Also HD channels work perfect. :)

Hi All, just found out that they are planning CI support via USB for this card. The FAQ on their site:

Wird es ein CI-Modul zu dieser Karte geben?
Ja, eine Einführung ist für Ende 2009 geplant. Eine Anbindung an das System wird per USB möglich sein. Weitere Produktinfos und Preise werden wir zu gegebener Zeit auf dieser Webseite veröffentlichen.

    Does the card support DISEQ?

    Hi Fredd_1001,

I do not need DISEQ (Quad Switch LNB) and cannot check this but according to their WEB site (driver download) the card does support it. About their driver they say:

    1. Build against Win7 DDK Implemented Win7 BDA additions: BDA_DISEQC_ENABLE, BDA_DISEQC_LNB_SOURCE, BDA_DISEQC_SEND. Note: This enhancement can also be used by any application via the IKsControl interface even on WinXP. BDA_DISEQC_ENABLE, BDA_DISEQC_LNB_SOURCE is the preferred method for up to 4 Satellites.
