Hi,

I have just installed the product. Looks great and functional.

I have installed on a P4, 256mb PC, clean install of XP sp2.
The machine currently has on board IBM graphics.

The application is running incredibly slow. I can playback video and music etc but just the application itself (just moving from one icon to another) is incredibly slow.

Is the machine underspeced for this application. I have a new Video card arriving soon to give me HDMI output to a new 27" LCD.

I have used XBMC on Xbox's (I have 2) for some time now which work beautifully and I just wanted to try Media Portal to see if any of the Nero Digital Files I have would better upscaled in better modes than 480P. I have around 600 MP4 files which are all indexed on the XBOX's and I can easily and quickly scroll through these - I couldn't do this on the Media Portal software.

Again, Products great, just wondering if I am doing something wrong with the setup. I have read some atricles on VRM9 (I'm presuming this is Windows Media Player 9). Would this have an effect on the actual speed of the application.

Any help would be most apreicated.

Neal

Yes, its underspected in two ways.
    - Graphics cards. You are already waiting for a new one. It should support DX9 and VMR9 like nVidia 5200, ATi 9550 and above.
    - RAM, even for Windows XP I would recommend at least 512 MB. 1GB would be better.

    HTH,
    Flip.

    ^^ what he said.

+ for upscaling you need raw processing power - totally independant from MediaPortal there are how-to's for ffdshow which will deliver upscaling superior to 500 USD DVD-Players. The drawback is that you'd need a multicore cpu for doing that. Maybe your P4 already offers hyperthreading which will help alot, too.
