Ok so before I ask my question let me give you a quick run down.

I have 200+ movies that are all .avi's and are all about 700mb. So overall I have about 182 gigs of movies
I also have about 428 gigs worth of television shows that are all .avi's as well.
I also have over 100 gigis of music that are all .mp3 or .wma.

All of my files are organized as such:
Movies: My Movies/ <Title of Movie> / <Title of Movie>.avi
TV Shows: My TV Shows / <Show Title> / <S01E03 - Episode Title>.avi
Music: My Music / <Artist Name> / <Album Name> / <Song Title>.mp3

Now for my question even though i am pretty sure i know the answer....

Why does it take a long time for media portal to load everything when i choose to open ANY folder???
If I am trying to go into my videos and I choose TV Shows, why does it take forever to display a list of directories?
Why does it take a long time to load a list of episodes when i choose to open a directory to a television show?

Is there anyway I can speed this up without reducing files? I have tried linking the files as well as directories with shortcuts but apparently, mediaportal doesnt believe in links.

As a followup question, if there is no way to fix this easily, who should i talk to/where should i go to look into rewriting/creating a better hash function to hash files into a database file? For some reason I am thinking the way that it is currently working right now is very poorly constructed and I would like to look into fixing it if possible.

Thanks for reading this over!
