MediaPortal 1.0.2 install issues on Vista x64 (1 Viewer)

MediaPortal Version: trying to be 1.0.2
Windows Version: vista x64
CPU Type: intel
Memory: 4gb
Motherboard: asus p5q pro
Video Card: asus eah4850
Ok on this machine its Mediaportal Client only as my Home Server is running MP server.

the problem I have is that even though the installation seems to go ok and everything is installed..
when I try to run the MP configuration I get the following error..

"Failed to locate Assembly 'Microsoft.directx, Version=1.0.2902.0, culture=neutral, publickey token=31bf3856ad364e35'. Note that the configuration program Must be executed from/reside in the MeriaPortal folder, the execution will now end."

this is in a seperate window from the MP configuration and is titled "Mediaportal"

the Configuration window is there and is "functional" as in I can enter and select stuff.. but when I click [ OK ] I get this error:

after this error the configuration Crashes and does not save anytning so I can not use MP...

I did have MP 1.0.0.RC4 on here and that was working no problems.. and I tried to update to 1.0.2 but got this error.. so uninstalled everything.. tried to install 1.0.2 again still same issue.

anyone able to help that would be greatly apriciated.

I don't know if this is relevant to the error messages you are seeing, but you must update both the server and the client to version 1.0.2 - you should not mix versions between the client and server.

this is true... however I get this error even before I configure MP client on this machine to talk to the TV server.
I just can not get it to even launch the configuration tool properly.

The solution is easy you just need to reinstall DirectX 9.

Please use 1.1.0Alpha on Windows7 as there and _only_ there there are the fixes for Windows7 UAC and multituning.

The solution is easy you just need to reinstall DirectX 9.
