    Mediaportal freezes on channel change.

I'd appreciate some advice on a problem I'm having with my Mediaportal setup. Except for this hiccup I'm delighted with this software as it is the only thing that I've found that lets me control DVB-T, DVB-S pictures and music with a single remote control.

When I change channels by selecting a new channel on the programme guide while the previous channel is playing, Mediaportal sometimes freezes. The problem is reproducible and seems to occur when I swap between two channels on different DVB-T multiplexes on my Hauppauge T-500 card e.g Five to Channel 4 or BBC one to Channel 4. If I have been running Mediaportal in full screen then the only way out of the freeze seems to be to restart the computer.

I have installed dvbfix and checked in the registry that all references to the dvbfix files point to the new versions.

I can view all the appropriate channels using the preview window on the TV server.

If I stop the TV (with the remote stop button or the TV menu stop) before selecting the new channel then the problem is avoided.

Log files are attached. View attachment 37333

    Many thanks in anticipation ...

    Peter

I think 1.0.1 may help you out, as there are some nice fixes by Ambass, this particularly applies to frozen video and what seems like a crash when switching channels (video not refreshing), also any stuttering anyone may be seeing.

Thank you for the quick reply. I'll download MP 1.01 as soon as it is available and report back.

MP 1.0.1 was planned for 15th March release... I don't see this anywhere so I guess it's been delayed... When it is due now?

When its finished as per mantis, then some testing to see what may\may not be broken as a side effect.

or more simply, "when its ready" :D

I've tracked the freezing on channel change problem down to a broken solder joint on the terrestrial aeriel feed giving an intermittent signal on two DVB-T multiplexes. The problem was masked by:
    1) Combining DVB-T and DVB-S channels in the MP TV-Server so that quite often the terrestrial channel was not selected.
    2) Combining channels as above seems to prevent Mediaportal 1.0 from backing out of a connection to a tuned but unavailable DVB-T channel.

I tracked the problem down by retuning all cards but not combining DVB-T and DVB-S channels. The dodgy channels then gave me the "do you want to go back to the previous channel" message and no freezing.

Roll on MP 1.0.1 - things are looking very promising.

    Finally sorted!
The tuner lockup problem recurred after fixing the aerial feed and neither was it fixed by MediaPortal 1.0.1 nor by Windows 7 Media Center.
The problem was in the Hauppauge drivers. Driver 3.11.27070 for the Nova T500 card (cunningly hidden by Hauppauge as a USB stick driver - Nova-T-TD-Stick_3_11_27070_WHQL) seems to fix the problem.
Anyway, thank you to Paranoid Delusion for his help.
