mtn.exe is 3rd party program that is used to generate thumbnails for video files. Based on the all reports (and personal experience) it is really buggy. Different video files cause it to crash (not sure if anyone has tried to figure out what exactly triggers the bug).

Disable the thumbnail generation and the issue goes away...

My thumbnails also go away also :( (which i think is a big part of mediaportals cosmetic appearence)
and the Thumbnailer plugin doesnt seem to work correctly either

Same here, when i had "upgraded" from ols 1.0.2 version to this new beta, all was ok, but with other problems i had, i removed everything DB and all, now relly fresh install of this beta started to do this always when i go to recorded programs.

i have also found problems with this.

being so buggy as it is know to be, i think it should be disabled by default and if user wants to enable it, then show a messagebox informing of possible issues.

ive had 100% cpu, massive usage of ram, huge logs from errors reported from mtn.exe. etc...

CPU usage is normal. mtn will be running on the idle priority (but of course it will use all available CPU time that has been left over from other applications when generating thumbnails). Not sure about the RAM usage, how much the mtn process was using?

I agree that it should be off by default as it is really not working nicely on lot of media content.

cant remember the ram values, if i notice it again i will report.

maybe you can take the appropiate measures to make it not enabled by default, or should we open a post?

I have the same problem in MP1.02. How do I disable it - its a real shame as I do like the thumbnails in recorded TV.

Edit - found it in another thread...

I think therein lies my problem. I am on 1.6.2.0. So thanks both for your help, I will pause this thread for now and come back to it while I work out what to do next. The problem is we have a family member who relies on MiniDisplay and I don't know if upgrading the set up is going to spoil compatibility with that plug in. The set up...
