Hi,

I've just installed MediaPortal 1.1.0 on a clean install of XP Pro SP3, and although it installed with no problems, when I try to run it it instantly puts up an error message stating "MediaPortal has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Running the debug program puts up a MediaPortal Watchdog error, stating "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you clikc quit, the application will close immediately.
Could not find file 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Mediaportal.xml' "

Clicking continue closes the error, but the program appears to hang with the status reading "Launching MediaPortal". I have attached the error log it creates.

MediaPortal Version: 1.1.0
MediaPortal Skin: Default
Windows Version: XP Pro SP3
CPU Type: Pentium 4 2.93GHz
HDD: 400gb
Memory: 1gb
Motherboard: ECS 661FX-M7
Video Card: Radeon 9600

    Hi Phil,

I'm not a specialist - also not able to decipher the log file - but I can try put you in some direction.
Have you checked the documentation about GeneralRequirements - MediaPortal Manual Documentation and is everything that is required ok?

I have experienced this as well quite some time ago and in my case it was something about those requirements that was not ok.

    Hi,

I've just changed the motherboard and CPU in my computer, to slightly newer ones (Socket 775 from Socket 478) The RAM, Graphics card, hard drive etc are all the same, the only new components are the motherboard and CPU, I had MediaCentre running fine with no problems literally last night on my old motherboard...

    Thanks :)

Yeah, I meet the minimum system requirements, i've installed everything possible from windows update, running the same graphics drivers as I was from the last PC...
