MediaPortal And M$ MCE Remote (1 Viewer)

Just a quick question before i go with MediaPortal and give up on MCE, if after i install MediaPortal can i use the MCE remote (w/ Windows Xp Pro SP2) just the same way i do with the M$ product? Mainly if i hit the "green button" will MediaPortal start up? Thanks in advance for any help...

yes.

to use the green buttom to startup MP you need the "mptray" plugin.

I am also thinking of getting a MCE remote/receiver to use with WinXP Pro w/SP2. Is there anything else I need to know to get it to work properly?

no.. MP has native support for the MCE remote built-in

the only thing you need to install is the "mptray" plugin to give the "green button" start-up facility

I have installed Media Portal, and all is working just as i had hoped except for one strange problem, when i start Media Portal up with the "green button" on my MCE remote the program is unresponsive until i use the mouse then all is fine. Anyone else have this issue?

(if i start Media Portal up with the mouse there is no problem at all)

I have the same issue. Don´t know why, but I have solved it by pressing the play button on the remote immediately after starting MP. After that, everything works fine.

Is there a button map for the MCE Remote in MP? For instance, which button takes you up a level in MY Videos and which to the previous screen? I'm trying to use a Harmony 880 with an iMon ir receiver. Everything is set to MCE remote but some buttons don't work and some I don't know if they are not working or if they are the wrong ones to do what I want?

Maybe the MCE replacement plugin could help you, since it allows configuration of other remotes as well.
