Just a small hint. When disabling WASAPI I realized that a few of my xvid cartoons had audio sampling rates of 44.1 and 32 khz. As a consequence of this the MP audio renderer did not connect to the ffdaudio decoder, instead it was using default directsound device. The fix was to make sure that ffdaudio resampled the audio to 48khz (as in my case 48khz 2-channel audio was setup in windows control panel-audio settings) - I think this is default. How ? Just enable ffdaudio decoder's resample filter. Choose "Resample Only if audio samplerate is less than 48khz". I've also disabled WASAPI on by bedroom-htpc, as the audio is merely rendered by my TV's crappy 2 channel speakers (hdmi) while I at the same time enjoy using only ONE remote control. Having to fiddle with the TV's remote control for controlling audio is a pain, which is required when using WASAPI. /gibman
