error description:
1. start mediaportal
2. start DVD playback
3. stop DVD playback
4. start DVD playback
5. mediaportal crash with a runtime error

The problem seems to be that MediaPortal doesn't shut down ffdshow properly, so when restarting the DVD the second time, there already is an instance of ffdshow running. It's 100% reproducable in my setup, if i do as above stated it always crash.

I've only experienced the problem when playing DVD. When I play .mkv the ffdshow instance is properly shut down when I stop the movie (so when restarting a clip MediaPortal fires up a new fresh ffdshow instance).

FFDShow is not a good choice for mpeg2, that is why it is disabled by default.

Try MPV, and use FFDShow for postprocessing if you must.

In which way? As far as I've found out by comparing playback and image quality I get *superior* quality when using ffdshow with tweaked settings for dvd playback. (Thread about ffdshow here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=719041 )

Try MPV, and use FFDShow for postprocessing if you must.

Tried with MPV and ffdshow as postprocessing. No luck. Double ffdshow instances -> crash.

    Thanks,
    /D

    Hi,
Can't confirm this, tried with a DVD 10 times & still working (ffdshow as codec for both audio & Video).
Could be that you have problems with something else or a codecs problem.
You have a error related to your soundcard "Failed to add filter:Default DirectSound Device to graph", maybe that causes problems.

    Regards

Aha.. I'll search through my setup and try to find what causes the problem. Which settings did you use in ffdshow? (So I can begin my search with something that works).

    Thank you in advance,
    /D
