So Im not quite new to Mediaportal I currently have it installed on 4 HTPC's at my house and 3 at my familys houses we use MKV's in conjunction with StreamedMP Skin and Moving Pictures. I used to convert my Audio in the MKV's to Dolby Digital but now that I am leaving them as DTS the Audio control within MP has no effect on the volume at all. My Codec for the Video is CoreAVC newest version # as of May 5th. How can I control the volume without using the System volume control / TV. Is there a Fix / work around?

No Audio is over HDMI, Like I said turning down Dolby Digital 5.1 is fine but DTS Audio wont turn down.

If you are using ffdshow as the audio codec (as I do - it seems to be about the most flexible there is) you will need to explicitly turn DTS on. Then DTS will be output. I use SPDIF out so I can't be sure about what would happen over HDMI.

Im using CoreAVC for my video codec. FFDShow for the video requires a hair to much from my cpu and causes stuttering. If it helps any I dont have any codec installed for the DTS, The Audio only works on mediaportal doesnt work in media player.

If you are getting volume control with AC3, the system must be decoding it, so you need to enable decoding for DTS to get volume control - check the filter settings in MP.

You can set MP to different codecs for audio and video. I use ffdshow for audio and Cyberlink for video. You then use ffdshow configuration to turn on DTS.

sound via HDMI is like spdif... if u decode DTS and don't passthrough, it's no DTS at the end of the cable. so if u want to have "real" dts or DD, then you need to passthrough the signal to your external device and control the volume with the external device.

as far as i know (i also have a samsung lcd) the otical out of the TV isn't capable to that. don't know why they added this, but it seems not to work as it should...
