MediaPortal plugins manager/installer (1 Viewer)

Summary:

Integrate installation and update of plugins into MP configuration app and organise all plugins into a cohesive "plugins" website that the config app will draw its data from.

Description:

Setup and maintenance of an MP install could be improved on if installation and updates to plugins could be performed from within the MP config.

I propose a system similar to the Firefox/Mozilla "Extensions" manager and website that goes along with it. In this system, when an update to an "extension" is added to the website, Firefox checks periodically and automatically alerts the user that there is an update available.

The users can then opt to download the update directly within the extension manager and installs it with minimal interaction required by the user.

I imagine a very similar process would work very nicely for MediaPortal.

There is the potential that open-source code used in the Firefox/Mozilla project could be leveraged or used as a prompt as to how this could be replicated in MP.

This plugin update/installer could be possibly be extended to permit updates to the MP core in the future as well.

Wow, didn't realise there was already something like this around.

Looks great, I'll try it out tonight. I don't suppose there's any chance this could be integrated into the "Plugins" section of the MP Config in the future?

After releasing 0.2.3.0 maybe have chance to integrating in MP, but if you want to help may try to do some extension packages and submit on dukus.extra.hu , or post some ideas for improving
