Infos:
These Subversion-snaps are compiled at about 01.00h (CET).
You can also visit the official irc-channel (#mediaportal) to get a notice when its ready for download. The trigger !svn gives you the latest update too.
They are not pre-tested, so please use the backup option from time to time.
If you'd like the bleeding edge code and don't mind the inherent risks, upgrade to the snapshot releases as they become available.
If stability is important to you, you might want to stay with the fully-tested releases.

How to install MediaPortal SVN-Snapshots in short:
1) Install MediaPortal 0.2.3.0, not necessary if already done
2) install .NET Framework Version 2.0
3) Run the Snapshot-Installer. You should create a backup.
4) Run Configure. Sometimes the settings and database versions change from build to build, so you have to reconfigure your TV for example
5) Hopefully enjoy the new version
6) If not, restore your old files and you will have the former version back.

Important notice: The backup function wont work for Vista atm, here you need to save your configuration manually. A rewrite is planned but will take some more time for testing.

I genuinely don't mean to sound rude here, but it seems like all the updates to SVN aren't concerning the problems people have been reporting. Is this just because certain developers charged with those areas are unavailable? Or should I just use another MC application until MP2?

    Hi,
jtmoney, dunno what problems you have with MP & if it doesn't work & you think it's not going your way, we won't force you to use it ;)

Some problems & bugs are hard to fix & causes lots of try & failure, maybe you have one of those, but that i dunno...

    Regards
    Roy

Okay, I guess I could have worded my previous reply as this: Truly, is there still an active interest in developing MP alongside MP2? It seems like we're getting a bunch of little fixes, but I keep reading the replies where people have completely lost the ability to see video. Is someone likely working on that?

I have all the patience in the world, but if my issue won't be resolved for sometime, I might as well move on to something else.

But, don't get me wrong, I have loved MP and have been using it for probably the past year. It's a great program, minus these hiccups. I guess that's what I get for using SVNs too, huh?

at the moment there seems to be some issues with newer versions for some people, but as you can see from the posts, some people are saying these are the best versions ever and some are having major issues.

At this point it seems pretty safe to assume that the developers aren't seeing these issues but you can be sure they are working on them.
There hasn't been a lot of details though. Some people have posted logs, but what would really help are more logs from more people. Also, some kind of information on hardware and what country you are in and what TV format you use.
It seems so far that there is no real pattern. People from the same country report that the latest SVNs are the best ever while others report some channels refuse to work.

You must see how difficult that makes things.

Rather than using another HTPC app, why not revert to an earlier version. Surely it worked for you at some stage in the past?

I would gladly revert to a previous SVN, but I can't remember which one worked out fine for me. Maybe I should just uninstall, remove anything in the directories, clean the registry, clean out the database (not sure how to this one), and install 0.2.3.0. But which version of TVE3 should I install?

Just use trial and error or read the postings for the SVN's. There are a lot ofpeople who say the best one before they experienced issues was 17063 (from memory this one is mentioned a lot).
Just check the date and get the Mediaportal update for that period as well.

To be truly sure, remove MP and delete the directory then do a clean install and then apply this update to each one.
I never go that far and don't have any issues though.
