Infos:
These Subversion-snaps are compiled at about 01.00h (CET).
You can also visit the official irc-channel (#mediaportal) to get a notice when its ready for download. The trigger !svn gives you the latest update too.
They are not pre-tested, so please use the backup option from time to time.
If you'd like the bleeding edge code and don't mind the inherent risks, upgrade to the snapshot releases as they become available.
If stability is important to you, you might want to stay with the fully-tested releases.

How to install MediaPortal SVN-Snapshots in short:

1) Install latest MediaPortal Release 0.2.2.0, not necessary if already done
2) install .NET Framework Version 2.0
3) Run the Snapshot-Installer. You should create a backup.
4) Run Configure. Sometimes the settings and database versions change from build to build, so you have to reconfigure your TV for example
5) Hopefully enjoy the new version
6) If not, restore your old files and you will have the former version back.

MP4 extension issues

When playing MP4 video files the following problems arise:

- the OSD doesn't work
- MP doesn't remember that it has played the file (doesn't become gray afterwards)
- When minimized (ie, press back) the small video window does not show the video

To avoid it, I need to remove the mp4 extension from MyMusic extension list.

I've attached the logs which shows what happens if mp4 exists in both MyVideo and MyMusic.

From this experience, one could almost assume that other extensions which can be either music or video will suffer the same fate.

    The information in http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/UserGuides/SVN-nighly-builds#head-be3d1f126f41b03319fd6c1d2424c7858ebd8310 referenced above seems to be outdated. The first time I installed an SVN, a made a backup manually, as recommended on the Wiki, only to find out that the SVN installer now does this automatically.

    What is not clear to me from any of the docs I have found is:
    1. How to ensure that plug-ins are compatible with the SVN.
    2. To what extent the current SVNs are dependent on (or independent from) the TV engine version. AFAIK, I still have version 2 installed, but most of the comments I see about SVNs refer to the version 3 beta.

    Slow TV startup

    Starting the Live TV (if not running) takes approx. 30s. This is with the latest TV Engine v3 (TVEngine3 Snapshot: 05-31-2007 01-22h Revision 14765).

    When looking at the logs, you see an awful amount of
    Code:
    31-05-2007 20:41:41 [c18]vmr9:InitializeDevice() 720x576 AR 720:576 flags:24 buffers:1  fmt:(3231564e) NV12
    31-05-2007 20:41:41 [c18]vmr9:DeleteSurfaces()
    31-05-2007 20:41:41 [c18]vmr9:flags:
    31-05-2007 20:41:41 [c18]vmr9:  OffscreenSurface
    31-05-2007 20:41:41 [c18]vmr9:  RGBDynamicSwitch
    31-05-2007 20:41:41 [c18]vmr9:InitializeDevice() done()
    31-05-2007 20:41:42 [c18]vmr9:TerminateDevice()
    31-05-2007 20:41:42 [c18]vmr9:DeleteSurfaces()
    lines in the vmr9.log file whenever the vmr9 renderer is initialized. It amounts to almost 20 seconds of the 30 second lag time. But once the live tv is running, changing channels are more normal, about 2-3 seconds. See analog_log.zip for the logfiles.

    But, if I watch DVB-T channels instead of analog, you get a the 30 second pause for EVERY channel change, making it 30 seconds per change. See digital_log.zip

    I've tried enabling/disabling the FFDshow filter which I use to enhance the picture quality but it makes no difference, the lag time is the same.

    I've also fiddled with the options for vmr9 (exclusive enabled/disabled) but it made no difference (except for tearing issues ;))

    I couldn't record anything from tv, with this SVN version. I switched back to one from 29th and recorder started to work again.

    Attempted "Record Now" from CVBS input of Hauppauge HVR-1300 MCE gave no visible response and produced attached logs.
