Infos:
These Subversion-snaps are compiled at about 01.00h (CET).
You can also visit the official irc-channel (#mediaportal) to get a notice when its ready for download. The trigger !svn gives you the latest update too.
They are not pre-tested, so please use the backup option from time to time.
If you'd like the bleeding edge code and don't mind the inherent risks, upgrade to the snapshot releases as they become available.
If stability is important to you, you might want to stay with the fully-tested releases.

How to install MediaPortal SVN-Snapshots in short:
1) Install MediaPortal 0.2.3.0 RC1, not necessary if already done
2) install .NET Framework Version 2.0
3) Run the Snapshot-Installer. You should create a backup.
4) Run Configure. Sometimes the settings and database versions change from build to build, so you have to reconfigure your TV for example
5) Hopefully enjoy the new version
6) If not, restore your old files and you will have the former version back.

Important notice: The backup function wont work for Vista atm, here you need to save your configuration manually. A rewrite is planned but will take some more time for testing.

Yep,

This SVN totally annhiliated my TV setup. Opening TV brings up a blank error message and I can only click ok.
Tried removing all the channels and rescanning but TV just doesn't work anymore.

I didn't make a backup either :(

I just tried to update (saw your post too late). I get no TV and can't play recordings either (neither via TV or My Movies). I attached Mediaportal.log...

In the TV-server config the preview is working...

I'm still getting IMDB problems.

A perfect example is "Casino" (1995)

If I search for "Casino" on IMDB.com, the first result is the correct one (Casino 1995).
A MP search for "Casino" returns some result from 1991 with 8 votes on it and no other information (not the correct one!)
If I refine the MP search to "Casino 1995" or anything else in the hopes of getting a selection to choose from, the correct result is not displayed at all (no result from 1995, but several from other years which are not the correct result).

Also, would it be possible to get the movies database to search using the folder names rather than the file names? I leave my files names as the original file names when downloaded but make a "correct" and specific folder name - for example, I will name the folder "Casino [1995]". Searching by folder name would be much more efficient for me, and I suspect many others do the same.

I have the same problem with TV. In the error.log there is a line

TSStreamBufferPlayer9:exception while creating DShow graph Die DLL dshowhelper.dll: Das angegebene Modul wurde nicht gefunden.

It looks like that dshowhelper.dll can't be loaded.

The problem does only exist with Windows XP, not with Vista

In SVN 15155 the dshowhelper.dll error should be fixed, but it has not yet been autogenerated as a SVN build. Is this just me or have those been less common lately?

Anyhow, looking forward to the next available build.
