Infos:
These Subversion-snaps are compiled at about 01.00h (CET).
You can also visit the official irc-channel (#mediaportal) to get a notice when its ready for download. The trigger !svn gives you the latest update too.
They are not pre-tested, so please use the backup option from time to time.
If you'd like the bleeding edge code and don't mind the inherent risks, upgrade to the snapshot releases as they become available.
If stability is important to you, you might want to stay with the fully-tested releases.

How to install MediaPortal SVN-Snapshots in short:
1) Install MediaPortal 0.2.3.0 RC2, not necessary if already done
2) install .NET Framework Version 2.0
3) Run the Snapshot-Installer. You should create a backup.
4) Run Configure. Sometimes the settings and database versions change from build to build, so you have to reconfigure your TV for example
5) Hopefully enjoy the new version
6) If not, restore your old files and you will have the former version back.

Important notice: The backup function wont work for Vista atm, here you need to save your configuration manually. A rewrite is planned but will take some more time for testing.

erm. having updated with this svn, the music album folder thumbs no longer works. each track has a thumb within the album, but not the album itself. folder.jpg is present in all the directories. Everything was ok with SVN 16020

    Hi geov,

I couldnt find the post where you already reported this problem in the forum. Can you give me a link? I would like to find out if this problem has been fixed?

Also, anyone experiencing heavy hard drive usage when just browsing music? - even when you just leave the pc alone, ie no mouse/keyboard inputs and with nothing playing. Also happens in video, when im playing a video my hard drive light come son solid and then just drops to steady access you would expect from playing a video. It never used to do this with earlier SVNs (sometime before 16020 as this is when I first noticed it). It does it for 5 - 10 mins and then stops. Any idea what could cause this in mediaportal? Some background database re-organisation?

    Cheers,
    Colin

I have also seen this on prior releases. However no idea how to duplicate so far. In my setup it only happens very rarely. How much RAM do you have? Maybe a meory leak problem leading to eccessive paging after using the pc for a longer time.

    Hi,

I bullt my pc fairly recently. It has 1gb ram and E6300 Intel processor with Asus PW6 deluxe mobo. This only happened after a recent SVN update though, so I don't think its the pc spec thats the problem. Strange.....

    Cheers,

    1 GB of RAM?
If you run TV3 single seat this is not to much. When running TV2 it should be ok.

When using TV3 did you limit the amount of RAM used by the SQL-Server?

    Hi,

I use the standard tv engine thats included with media portal. I did a little test and I think the hard drive access is caused by the TV guide being updated. See log extract below. All I did was run mediaportal. I left it on the main menu without pressing anything. A few seconds after mp loaded hard rive access started. This seems to coincide with the tv guide being updated. I closed media portal a few seconds after the hard rive access started but he hard drive acces continued for quite some time after mp closed (minutes not seconds). Media portal was still active in task manager during this time. Is it possible the radio update to tv guide has caused this?

    Cheers,
    Colin
