New user of mediaportal (though I had quickly looked at it before) and I must say it is excellent and should have used it first off.
Been battling along with WMC and Bluray in particular and couldn't quite get everything to work right together, there was always something that didn't fit with something else. Being an IT person I was quite happy with tweaking and workarounds etc, but....
In trying to get consistent auto setting of refresh rates working in it, I kept getting references to mediaportal in my searches. Eventually I came to the conclusion that WMC may never work as I had hoped due to the fragment nature of development for it. I had had enough and decided to seriously audition mediaportal as it seemed to have what features I was after.
Well what can I say, within 20 minutes I had it installed, configure to launch external player(s) and setting the correct refresh rates! Couldn't have been easier. It took me longer to get the esc key correctly working with my MCE remote! And even longer still to decide on a skin (and still haven't).
I also love the support site and forums, it's nice to have everything available in one place.
I was so stoked I just had to get on andd post this. All I can say, is I am now a convert and excellent, excellent work, can't wait for version 2!
