When I select one MIDI file to play, it plays fine, but the player does not stop and plays the rest of the MIDI files in the folder below the selected one.

This is the expected behaviour, like i told you in a PM a few weeks ago.

When you click on afile to play, we build an internal playlist, where we add the rest of th files too.
We won't change that, since a lt of people rely on that.

Sorry, your message was in your visitor box, not in my box or PM. I didn't see it until today, that's why it looked like a bug to me.

In fact, not the entire folder is played with the existing behaviour, but only the selected file and the files below the selected (in layout view).

We all want MediaPortal to be flexible and user friendly. I don't quite understand why can't people create their own playlist if they want to play all or a few files. Isn't this what playlists are for?

How can people play just one file?

It would be pretty inflexible when you would need to build a playlist to just play CD tracks onward from some position. Not even standalone CD players require you to do so :)

I understand now. This is really how the player is designed at the moment and I guess the only way to play just one file is to create a list consisting of just one entry.

    My apology.

    NO BUG here.

    greybox,

I think if you use the O.K. button to play your song (and not the play button), it will play only this single song.
This is from memory, but I think that is how mp behaves.

YES!!! In fact, this is opposite (pressing "Play" automatically creates a playlist for just one song and plays one song only, and pressing OK plays the rest of the list starting with the current selection), but it works!!

    :D:D:D

Many many thanks, tomtom21000! You should start writing a book: "Hidden secrets of Media Portal"!

Really strange as I have always used OK/select on the MCE remote to start to play a album and it play all songs... :p
