    Hi all,

I'm running the latest version of MP - works a treat (most of the time) ;)

But I need to migrate my MySQL setup to MS SQL

Does anyone have any instructions on doing this?

I know there is a new backup/restore plugin - I tried using this when I migrated from XP to Windows7 - and it didn't work too well - I ended up manually reconfiguring everything! :(

    Many thanks,

    J.

    Hi there,

Hasn't anyone ever migrated from MySQL to MS SQL? :(

Can someone please confirm what the Database holds? (If its just schedule/EPG data I don;t care if I lose it. If its config data, then I will want to keep it)

    Thanks,

    J.

ps - I am also running 4TR too

In normal MP, the database also holds all the channel tuning information, the recording 'played' status and the database of recordings (but that can be regenerated using the TV config 'import' function). Never used 4TR so I don't know what that stores in the DB.

Out of interest, why are you moving to MS SQL ?

    I thought MP2 needed MySQL...

...as (re.membering hard) SQL Server couldn't be automatically installed or some such.

When the next MP1 comes out, I'll probably use MySQL

    Hi there,

What are the Developers opinion on which DB is best? I think I recall one saying MSSQL - only because it is installed as part of Visual Studio??

Is there anything in it? One faster than the other?

I am currently rebuilding my HTPC and wondering if I should stay MS SQL or possibly back to MySQL (removed the dependancy on MS SQL now)

    Thanks,

    J.
