Just tested the latest SVN releases, these being

TVSever Rev: 12723
MP Rev : 12734

Using the above SVN versions all database access is very slow to respond. When selecting the mini epg there is a 15 sec delay before it shows and it is very slow in comparison to SVN version 12646. The full guide also has the same problem and pageing though the guide causes the tvstream to halt for a sec or two.

I have also noticed that the TV server config is also now extreamly slow to respond, nearly 10sec to switch into and out of Tv Channels.

I am still using the SQL 2005 and have 120 TV channels defined.

Attached are the logs for MP and TVServer.

Hello,

in 12734 was a change at the ms-sql:

.........removed MS SQL specific code from clickfinder,
create tvmoviemapping table via setuptv,
added logging.....

You can see this here

Maybe come from this change:rolleyes:

Edit: sorry, same behaviour in 12720 :-(

An update to this...

One more problem, little more of a shock - I import my EPG via WebEPG/XMLTV, I ran this to update a channel I added only to find the entire EPG had been removed from the DB!

Before I restored the backup and somewhat based on your DB theory I de-installed TV server, deleted the DB, re-installed and imported my channels. After re-configuring XMLTV plug in and sort a few issues with cards being re-numberd I re-imported the EPG....all seems a lot more responsive now an improvement, mini EPG still jumps up slightly and scrolling round the guide does still upsetup the stream but no where near as bad.

not sure why the EPG was deleted but don't like the look of these log entries...
The last in particular, I dont (well did not) have my TV channels setup to grab EPG, seeing as all but 1 is fed from an external STB box.

25/01/2007 01:01:14 Rename Existing Channels is set to: False, with Template: {number} {callsign}.
25/01/2007 01:01:14 Add New Digital Channels is set to: False, with External Input: SvhsInput1.
25/01/2007 01:01:14 Add New Digital Channels Country is set to: United States.
25/01/2007 01:01:14 Channel Sorting is set to: False.
25/01/2007 01:01:14 Allow Channel Matching without Frequency is set to: False.
25/01/2007 01:01:14 Delete Channels with No EPG Mapping is set to: False.

there does not seem to be a way of disabling the ZapIt plug in.....

The next time someone notices this behaviour watch your HDD busy states.
If you do not know how - just launch the SQL Server Management Studio, open the database node and tell if there's something like "TvLibrary (In Recovery)"

I thought in the other thread I'd said my harddrive light was going crazy! So why is this as only seems to be occuring in last couple of days svns? Is there anything I can do to improve it?

    Thanks

mysql seems to not suffer from that but isn't mature enough for daily use atm. Using a new MSSQL database without EPG and channel importing it's working again for me

I can confirm the "In Recovery" message that is shown sometimes in the SQL management studio.

this issue has been fixed in the latest svn build
    Problem is that gentle.config contains this Pooling=false;
Remove this from gentle.config, restart the service and all works fine again
    Gentle.config can be found in

    On the server:
    c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\MediaPortal Tv Server

    on the client:
    In the mediaportal folder itself

be sure to replace the gentle.config files of both MP and tvserver

Do you mean memove the whole line or just the pooling=false text or replace with true?

    Thanks
