Hi all, I am looking for some guidance regarding a minimal set of codec’s for my new HTPC (running Mediaportal). I want to be able to run as much media types as possible with a minimum set of (“known to work“) codec’s.
I am installing MP 0.2.2.0 on a fresh XP SP2 installation using an abit NF-M2 nView MOBO (GeForce 6150 / nForce 430) with a PVR-150 TV-card. DScaler is offered during install of MP but I am considering PureVideo for MPEG2. What would you recommend me, to go for the PureVideo codec or to use an Open Source codec like DScalers (I really like FLOSS)?
I was thinking about FFDShow as the next “general” codec. Do I need really anything else? Would you recommend FFDShow for pre/post-processing or not (and for what media types)?
Any other codec’s I might need (like Haali Media Splitter etc.)?
