Database: MySQL 5 (Program Table is set to UTF8)

Hi All,
I have a problem with mixing charsets in EPG-Data.
I look German Channels and also Polish channel and grap the EPG-Data from DVB.

The Problem is now, that in the polish epg data some characters are wrong.
The German EPG Data is ok.

I use a German Windows, and also the language from MediaPortal is set to German.

Is there a way to get correct characters in the polish EPG Data?

I thing there is a Problem with the EPG Grabber ... maybe he dont save the data in UTF8, just in the language specificated Charset. Or maybe a wront translation of the strings, not applicable for Polish Characters? I dont know.

Find someone from Poland who uses that specific EPG grabber...

Hi,
i thing i dont need a special EPG grabber (use the Server DVB EPG Grabber). The problem is i thing, that my System (Windows, MP, ...) is all in German. When i have a polish Windows, and have also all my software in polish, i thing i have no more problem with the polish characters. In this way i thing i will have problems with the german one. BUT i dont know ... cant test it.

Quastion ... is the DVB EPG Data always coded in his language charset? I thing it is ... and when TV-Server grab it, can the Server see how charset it is? Maybe its possible to convert all grabbed DVB EPG Data always to UTF-8 on grabbing, then i thing there is no problem more. Maybe for other Users too, who looks diferend Language channels.

This all are presumptions, becourse i dont know how its works in the real.

Will be great (for my wife) when i can get it to work :)

At first you could check the contents of your database with the MySQL tools and see if the data has the correct charset encoding in the db (table Program)

    Hi gemx,
i will check it today after work.
But now i can say, that the Program Table is UTF-8 (was created from TV Server, never chage something manualy), what the characters are, i will check it tonight.

I hope i find the function for checking the charsets :)

    Hi again,

i have try to check yesterday the table wit the MySQL Administrator Tool.
But dont find a option t check the content of the Tables becourse the charsets.
Also i have try the other tools, but nothing found.

The Table "Program" is definitly in UTF8, created from the TV Server and never changed.

rtv, Gemx ... maybe you can test it by self or say me how i can test it. maybe make a dump of the db.

On Astra 19,2° are some Polish FTA Channels.
    - TV POLONIA (10773 MHz, Polarisation H, Symbolrate 22000, FEC 5/6)
    - TVP KULTURA (10773 MHz, Polarisation H, Symbolrate 22000, FEC 5/6)
    - TVP HISTORIA (10773 MHz, Polarisation H, Symbolrate 22000, FEC 5/6)
    ...

On Hotbird 13,0° are some more
    - Polonia 1 (11488 MHz, Polarisation H, Symbolrate 27500, FEC 3/4)
    - Polsat2 (11158 MHz, Polarisation V, Symbolrate 27500, FEC 3/4)
    - VIVA Polska (11075 MHz, Polarisation V, Symbolrate 27500, FEC 3/4)
    - Tele 5 (11488 MHz, Polarisation H, Symbolrate 27500, FEC 3/4)
    ....

That will be great when you take a look on one of tis channels and grab the DVB EPG.
I am intredeted how happens in your Configuration.
Here are the special characters in polish ABC: (łŁąĄęĘćĆżŻśŚóÓ) the other characters are same like in German ABC.

    THX for the support

Had someone Time to check it?
That will be great when someone can take a look on it.
Maybe its a problem with my configuration, but when its a general problem then i dont must search it on my System.

Another what i see is, that "breaks" in DVB-EPG Data ... in the German and Polish ... was ignoring.
    Its shows like:

"DescriptionI am a DescriptionI am a new lineAnd the next one"

It must be shown like this here:
    "Description
    I am a Description
    I am a new line
    And the next one"

    You know what i mean?

Maybe its also a charset problem

I think i found a little bug which might cause the different encodings.
    It's currently being tested :)
