Hello Everyone,

I've installed MP and so far love it. I started converting my dvds into mkv files for easy viewing. The problem I am running into is about 25% of the movies I've converted are jumpy and 75% play just fine. I am ripping them with mactheripper and then converting them with handbrake (both the windows and mac version yield the same result). The movie seems to stutter only on the windows box and not the mac. I'm really not sure what to try at this point since like I said about 75% of the movies play fine. Is there anything anyone could suggest?

Thank you for your time.

If you have a newer ATI or Nvidia video card you can enable hardware acceleration of H264 video files by using either the Power DVD codec or installing the stand alone filters for Media Portal found here: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/codecs-external-players-55/stand-alone-filters-mediaportal-44614/

Make sure to uninstall all other codec packs and ffdshow before installing and follow the instructions on that page. If you dont have a card that can do hardware decoding then you should look into CoreAVC, it is a very efficient software decoder for h264 files and costs under $10 if I remember correctly.

Sadly I have a series 7 nvidia card so no hw acceleration :( I did install the codec you suggested and removed the others I had installed. This seems to have worked. I've tested on a movie that was jumpy and it isn't any longer. However, now AVIs don't play. Did I remove a codec that maybe I should not have?

Under the movie config I have the following set:

MPEG-2 video decoder: MPV Decoder Filter
H.264 video decoder: CoreAVC Video Decoder
Audio Decoder: MPA Decoder Filter
Audio Renderer: SoundMAX HD Audio

Do I have to enable it in HAAL? Everywhere I read said not to.

Thanks once again for your time.

Actually I take that back, every time I fire up MP and launch a movie it crashes. I'll play around with it some more.
