Contrary to what is highly recommended, aero interface causes MKV stuttering on my W7 system. I use FFDSHOW rev3800 for audio and video. Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Personalization -> "Windows 7" aero theme with black background - terrible stuttering starting immediately. Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Personalization -> "Windows 7 basic" non aero theme - stuttering gone.

Does those logs have any actual video playback activity? I didn't spot anything on quick look. evr.log is missing so it is highly likely that you didn't play anything when creating those logs.

Also please supply screen shot of video rendering statistics for both cases. You can enable it by pressing !

Re: MKV Stuttering with Windows 7 aero theme enabled

    A few questions:

Was this a problem with 1.2.0 alpha ?

Has anything changed in your system recently ?

Do you run multiple monitors ? (dxdiag.txt lists two display devices)

Re: MKV Stuttering with Windows 7 aero theme enabled

Yes, this problem was with 1.2.0 alfa. I just disabled aero assuming this is a fancy but resource damanding feature. I was surprized to see the MP installation message that aero is a required element which is supposed to boost up the MP performance.

Yes, I have two monitors - one big plasma and one smaller lcd.

    I hope this helps.

Yes, I have two monitors - one big plasma and one smaller lcd.

That's the cause of the problem.....

Take a look at https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/general-development-no-feature-request-here-48/mp1-evr-presenter-dshowhelper-community-development-81148/index111.html#post743900 and the subsequent posts for more info.

(Marking the thread as 'no Bug' since this isn't a issue specifically with 1.2.0 beta)

Wow, that thread is currently a "small" book of 112 pages. Would it be possible to briefly explain what the problem is and what would you recommend?

Re: MKV Stuttering with Windows 7 aero theme enabled

Just read the relevant posts from #1107 to #1118 (current end of the thread).

There isn't really a good solution to the problem at present (other than not using dual monitors), just some workarounds that users have devised.

Re: MKV Stuttering with Windows 7 aero theme enabled

What do you think about the following workarounds:

    1. disabling aero interface (tried and it seems to be working)
    2. using a second, possibly slower videocard for the LCD monitor (haven't tried yet)

    1. disabling aero interface (tried and it seems to be working)

AERO is used for v-sync -> you will get tearing if you disable AERO on Windows 7 / Vista.

    2. using a second, possibly slower videocard for the LCD monitor (haven't tried yet)

Wont help - only thing that I could imagine would to use same refresh rate on both displays.
