Hi all, i was wondering if there's any project working on connectivity with mobile phones? For example to send sms and make calls within mp?
I've used float's mobile agent the past few years and i'm very happy with it. The complete mobile phone functionality on the desktop, but it would be great to have the functionality available within mp...
I've tried to search but could not find anything or anything similar, so i guess i've to dig up my (java) developer experience... Just installed .net studio and wincvs...

I don't know of any existing projects.
Also fyi, you will need a Subversion client, MP switched over to SVN from CVS.

Thanks for your reply! Today i did some extra brainstorming about this feature and this got me still a couple of questions.

Is there any general Contacts plugin to manage (synchronize) all your contactpersons?? There are many ways to interact with other people (msn/skype/sms/phone number for ex.) and i guess it is not the most easy way to have plugins available for each communicating way as well as one plugin for all your contacts with different options...
Is there any planning how to handle contactpersons within mediaportal or do we just have to deal with seperate plugins as they are right now?! Is there planed anything for further development on this matter?!

So like Apple Address Book, you want a list of contacts that you're able to call or sms (through bluetooth mobile), skype, etc? I'm certain there isn't an address book plugin, though there is one for MCE if you're looking for some inspiration.

Thx for that link, the mce version looks very fancy! Do not have MCE installed, so cannot check functionality. In meantime I coded little bit, the java -> c# step was very easy to take

Here some shots, still tons of bugs and a minimum of functionality. I use a sql server connection for database storage, just because it is THE only fast way to store/manage lots of data and the sql server is coming there anyway because of the tv engine v3.

So I could use MP to call (thrue bluetooth?) and sync my Windows Mobile 5 adressbook with it? That would be awsome!

Integration of the TVengine3 into the MP core application is still not a fackt, as far as I know b.t.w.

What is the world becoming? Even cows and sheeps uses Skype and Mobile phones these days..

Anyway, great pluing. You know, one thing that would be really cool is to remotely be able to call the plugin contacts (like, though a mobile java program or webpage) on skype and use the mobile as a "bluetooth headset". This enables for free skype calls when you are in bluetooth range of the MP system with your mobile. But this is of course out of your scope, just wanted to mention what is possible. Think you need the widcomm/broadcomm stack to do this though...

Just to let you know i'm making progress on this project. I've e-mail sending and skype (limited) functionality working right now, building further with the sony ericsson connectivity right now, the hardest part...


as reply on magnuje2: I've thought that myself, but i'm not sure if it works with the profiles on bluetooth, and besides that, i guess connectivity with a bt headset will be easier to program and better in use... Will try it that way...
