Summary:
The ability to list multiple sources in a single list.

Description:
As video and movie libraries grow they get scattered in different folders and on different systems on the network, it would be much neater and easier if it was possible to have multiple locations as source for a single link, as can be done on the xbox media center, where a single entry in the video subfolder can have many sources for it's list.

If you have added all your films to the movie db, then choose view by title, rather than share, and they all appear in the same list. This is what I have done on mine, as I have about 4 different folders with movies. I only change back to share view if I want to add a film to the db via the GUI, rather than the config.

 

[bug]

I used to add everything to the database but got fed up it losing the link if I changed folder name or location, already wasted too many hours reconfiguring hundreds of links.

...oh and forgot the annoying way the configuration utility insists on re-adding the local cd drives everytime it runs! I've lost count how many times I go to movie/music/pictures and remove the removable media form the list after every change - a simple tick box would be nice to prevent this.

Otherwise mediaportal has come on leaps over the last year or so and now with the new tv server almost everything I had problems with is fixed
