Movie naming convention? (1 Viewer)

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I did a search, checked the wiki & FAQ & came up empty.
What's the best way to name the movies stored on my HTPC? I've tried <Movie Name.mkv> & <Movie Name (year).mkv> (or.avi), but when I scan them, I get a tonne of them not being found and others having multiple movies with the same name. When I try it manually, I can pick the correct one if there are multiples, but a lot of them still aren't found.

Best way according to many people is to:

1. Use Moving Pictures plugin
2. Have a folder for each movie with name <moviename> <year>
