Im a happy XBMC user, but the lack of a live TV module with an EPG has me looking elswhere. I intend on recieving HD-OTA and clear cable via hdHomerun. Wanting to stream this live content to two frontends. I currently have an i5 server loaded with all my movies and TV series'. I dont see a whole lot as to how mediaportal handles the TV series that I have, can it scrape, download fanart and posters like XBMC from TVDB, will it be happy with the folder structure I have?

For TV
w:\series\seriesname (year)\season\episodename.mp4
and for movies
x:\movies\movietitle (year)\movietitle.mkv

I have a mixture of avi/mp4/mkv's on the drives. Will it handle whatever I throw at it?

Can it post-process to remove commercials?

Thanks.. It looks like MediaPortal may be what Im looking for, maybe..

Using comskip yes, but I find it has to be initiated for the first time in a recording by using the skip button on remote\keyboard, after that one step it does it for the rest of the show, this applies to the recordings screen, if you have a batch script that moves recordings to a video folder, this step should be unnecessary.

I just did pretty much the same thing. But I was choosing between MediaPortal and XBMC, coming from Media Center. MP won out because of the TV support, which was big for me.
Like Paranoid posted, Moving Pictures and My TVSeries plug ins should cover all the movie and TV ya got.

Perfect! Thanks for the replys. Need to do a little more reading and then Ill take the dive from XBMC, maybe this week. I need two hdhomeruns, but currently have a PCHD-2000 card from a mythtv box several years ago that never materalized. I need to check if that card is supported with MP, If im remembering right, it was built for linux and only slightly supported in windows. Either way, I can load MP and use it as-is, then add the hdhomeruns(s) as I get them.

Thanks again.. Im sure Ill be here often.
