I have several TV series on my HTPC. Does MoPics have any kind of special support for that?

For instance, I have a folder for Band Of Brothers which contains all of the episodes. I also have the Complete Series for Frasier, with each season in their own sub-folder.

MP is going through it's file scan right now, and it's making rather horrific assumptions about what these files are. :)

    Hi there,

Moving Pcitures is designed for Movies...hence the name.

You want to use My TVSeries - hence the name too ;)

    Many thanks,

    J.

Ideally you split it up at import level, so no mixed situations occur.

For example "D:\Movies" containing all the folders with your movies and "D:\TV Shows" containing all the folders with your TV shows (or mini-series).

Then just configure those as import paths for the MovingPictures and MP-TVSeries plugins, and they will take care of the rest. Use the FAQ links in my signature otherwise for basic help on most problems you might run into and their solutions, but if you are using MovPic v1.0.4 RC and MP-TVSeries v2.5.3 in combination with MediaPortal (v1.0.2 stable or v1.1 RC), then by default things shouldn't cause you much trouble. It usually all depends on your filenaming scheme, as it has to match the defaults from each plugin, but you can easaly adjust those to match your unique setup.

Made for TV stuff, including mini-series, sometimes fit better under the MP-TVSeries plugin. In some cases this might require renaming your files for a proper match. This is because MP-TVSeries relies on TheTVDb.com website for information and that one relies on the Season+Episode format. So a "Band Of Brothers S01E01.avi" is found automatic, but a "Band Of Brothers - Currahee.avi" causes problems for an automatic match (can always force it manually of course, but auto is much better).

Right now TheTVDb.com website is having trouble, they either can not sustain the heavy load from everybody using it, or they are having hardware problems again. You just have to be understanding on those problems and not blame MP-TVSeries plugin from being unable to match things automatic. So if things seem to look weird, verify that TheTVDb.com is running first.

    Enjoy

Yeal, already have them in their own folders. I'll give that other plugin a shot. Unfortunately, all 500+ of the tv shows I have are named with my own naming convention. It's going to be a long day... :)
