Hi guys, Just got all my 500 or so movies into moving pictures but when I try to use it, it is painfully slow and scrolling through movies etc.

Here are specs etc:

Movies are stored on network drive
VIA C7 1.6 ghz processor
Onboard graphics (Directx7 only)

So what is the problem do you think? At the moment moving pictures for me is unusable. Takes forever to load up as well.

Thanks

You could use the 'thumbs' folder reduction script from: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...age-size-thumbs-folder-movpic-tvseries-75750/

And possibly adjust the settings even more to create smaller images, which should help improving the scroll speed.

But as LRFalk pointed out, your system is severly underpowered for this .NET solution, so any slowness you will need to deal with, or upgrade your system. The main component to upgrade would be your videocard, $30 gets you a fanless HD4350 which is what I use as well to play 1080p movies on this single-core PentiumM 1.7Ghz CPU desktop (very much alike your CPU).

MediaPortal and MovingPictures might still be somewhat slow, because they rely more on the CPU, but if you optimize and tweak your system, it should 'just' be enough if you get a dedicated DXVA videocard.

    Hi guys.

My ITX motherboard only supports PCI so I have bought a Geforce 5500 so I can run DX9.

Hopefully this will solve my problems.

I have this slowness with Tv-Series plugin also however it isn't as bad.

My ITX mobo only supports 1gb of ram as well.

Hopefully this will solve my problems.

Newegg sells the nVidia PCI GeForce 8400 GS, which is DirectX10 and DXVA compatible for $39.99

For even more GPU power you could go with the AMD/ATi PCI Radeon HD4350, which is DirectX10.1 and DXVA compatible for $89.99

Both those cards would be a much better choice then the GeForce 5500, but you still have to anticipate some problems, due to the slow CPU. So be sure to tweak Windows for maximum performance. Some initial help on that can be found at: Black Viper's Web Site

    Hi

i just found this old post.. and thought i might as well ask here..
i seem to have the same problems.. as the original guy.. but my system should be more than powerfull enough to handle it.. but it dosnt.. can anyone suggest something to do ?

    AMD Phenom Quadcore 2.4ghz
    4gb ddr2 ram
    onboad Geforce 8200 (256mb shared)
    windows 7 64bit.

i have newest MP and newest moving pictures installed ( in fact just reinstalled everything fresh a week ago )

is it realy bcoz of the onboard video card ? i would think the cpu should be more than able to handle the database stuff... but its all laggy and slow

    hope someone can help.. :)

    Hey zzzzleepy,

The first thing I would do is make sure all of your drivers are up to date (especially your video card drivers). Also, can you start up Media Portal and to go Moving-Pictures in windowed mode. Pull up your task manager and put focus back on your Media Portal window. What does the used system resources look like? If this is a fresh install, how long have you given moving-pictures to rebuild the database? My system seemed a bit slower when it was building the media-info data table although it was still completely usable. When you say laggy and slow, do you mean video streaming or the GUI? If you are running aero, you could try disabling that to see if that makes a difference. This ends my rant of ideas / questions.

RC2 when its released should be a lot smoother in use, much less a gpu resource hog, as far as updating display driver, would stick to anything pre 190, as newer ones are buggy as hell.

i have installed with latest drivers directly from the manufactures..
i tried to start MP in windowed mode.. and watched my cpu... i dont know whats wrong.. but when i scroll the movies.. it goes from 0% cpu to 80-98% so its realy intense.. a 1080p movie uses like 35% cpu on my system.

i dont know long i have given it to build the database.. but its more than 1 houre...
how long does it take ? i have around 200 movies..

it is the GUI that lags.. not the movies or series

i have tried without Aero and it made no change..

hope that rc2 comes out soon :p
