Well, once 0.2.3 will be stable what will be the best way to move to the new stable release? will I have to reconfigure all the settings and channels? and the list of the shows to record?

is there a way to export all the settings to the new release...
to be sure to have a stable HTPC will I have to uninstall all previous MP installations?

:D :D :D

You can export your TV channel, scheduled recordings and actual recordings details via the MediaPortal Setup. All the other settings you should do again from the begining.

to be sure to have a stable HTPC will I have to uninstall all previous MP installations?

Yes, definitely! I suggest you do the following:
    1. make a backup copy of your current MediaPortal folder (just in case you need any of these files later in the re-install - like thumbs, icons etc)
    2. uninstall MediaPortal
    3. delete all the remaining files and folders in the MediaPortal folder
    4. use "CCleaner" to remove any rubbish left in the Registry
    5. Reboot the PC
    6. install MediaPortal 0.2.3.0
    7. run MP Setup and import your channel settings, and complete all the other setup items
    8. install the latest versions of all the plugins that you use and configure

Then you should have a good, stable, predictable MediaPortal system ... :)

    MediaPortal Setup -> Television -> TV channels -> Backup .... :)

This will backup all your TV data (channels, groups, schedules and recordings) to an xml file which you can then "Restore" into MP 0.2.3.0.

...and if I want to move from TV2 to TV3 will it be possible to import all channels, recordings and schedules from internal TV2 to TVE3 server?

Taipan: This only works partially. I had to add all info except name (channel nr., s-video etc.). Quite time consuming when using STB.

Adding these in TVE3 is even worse!

    Hi chrisonline,
There might be other options, but this workaround works for me (using TV2 though). Simply move your recorded shows to one of yr movie folders. Of course you need to look at them via the "My movies" sections rather than "My recordings". (And I think you should ensure they are mpeg, I always convert to mpeg before moving anyway).

Thanks, but another way to import it to "my recordings" does not exist?

There is no way to import Dvr-ms recordings into TVE3, even on the old engine if you did not use the backup facility then MP lost all the recording information, could still see and play file, but it always said program was recorded that day.
