All,

Has anyone had issues with MP 1.1.0 beta after performing the last round of windows updates? I am running Windows Vista. I am not 100% sure this is what triggered it but its the only thing I can think of at the momemnt. Unless the configuration got corrupted somehow? I get an error box pop up stating:

C:\program files\team mediaportal\mediaportal\mediaportal.exe

The application failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more info.

Searched the forums and didn't see much for this specific error. I would hate to have to re-install MP AGAIN!?

EDIT:
It looks like my MediaPortal.exe.config file is empty. Can someone post one for MP v1.1.0? Thanks.

Same problem here at a second time, don't know what i did to cause it.
Last time i reinstalled almost everything to get it fixed, this time i hope easier solution.
True is that program files\team mediaportal\mediaportal\mediaportal.exe.config is empty and error in eventlog is telling that something is wrong with that file.
I renamed the file and managed to get basic home screen until it gives error that something is missing and program closes after you click ok.

i managed to fix this after i too started having the problem out of the blue, anyone who has the same prob, copy the contents of conginuration.exe.config and paste that into mediaportal.exe.config and it should work, did for me.

    Hi there,

Juat had this happen to me out of the blue.

MP crashed on me (Moving Pictures errored - saying waiting for GUI to update). I closed down MP (Alt F4), tried to restart it, Windows7 BSOD'ed.

Restarted HTPC, then MP would not autoload.

Checked the config file - it was empty.

Copied contents from configuration.exe.config file to the mediaportal.exe.config file and all seems fine.

Not sure what caused the initial issue :(

But maybe I should perform a weekly reboot (it is windows after all) :D

I tried first by copying configuration.exe.config to mediaportal.exe.config but that only helped partly (mediaportal 1.1.1). Some things still did not work OK (some remote keys were screwed and some movies did not play). Then I made a new mediaportal install on another machine (also 1.1.1) and copied mediaportal.exe.config from that machine and now everything seems to be back to normal.
Just wanted to add this to avoid other people having to do reinstall...

Many thanks for this post.......just saved me a ton of work!

I just got a BSOD and this error.

Here's the background to my failure:-
I had a working system, but the icons were missing from the weather plugin. I read on the web how to fix and it worked. Perfect.
However, I noticed that the link to onlinevideos had gone from my main menu, so, ran up the MAYA skin config utility and re-enabled it.
Saved and restarted......and it's then that I got the BSOD etc.

Per this post I found mediaportal.exe.config empty so copied over the contents and I'm back up & running.

    Thanks again.

    Ian.
